Water Separation Instrument- WSI Analyser - SA9000-0
The Water Separation Instrument (WSI) is a fully automatic and compact bench top / portable instrument.
When pumped through a water coalescing filter, the instrument gauges how well a fuel sample releases entrained and emulsified water. At the conclusion of the test, the measured water separation index is clearly visible.
A straightforward user interface with a touch screen display is used to control the WSI. Since the test is fully automated, little to no operator training is necessary in order to use the instrument. Additionally, test repeatability and reproducibility are guaranteed by the automatic test sequence and consistent sample handling.
Low operator time requirements and automation’s ease of use result in lower labor costs. The WSI uses just one cheap filter per test and uses inexpensive consumables, which allows for additional cost savings and less waste overall. Additionally, quick on-site calibration eliminates the need to send an instrument to a service facility, saving time and money.
Past results can be accessed through the internal data storage of the WSI and exported via USB connection to a PC for additional analysis.
The most recent Product Quality Bulletin (No 142) from JIG updates the protocol for testing water separation downstream of the point of manufacture and suggests using ASTM D8073 (IP 624) for the testing.
