Purge and Trap to detect Ethanol and 1 4 Dioxane

1,4-Dioxane

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Method 8260 uses Purge and Trap to detect Ethanol and 1 4 Dioxane. Both of these, ethanol and 1 4 Dioxane are water miscible and Selective Ion Monitoring (SIM) is required in order to detect these compounds at lower levels. The advent of SIM/Scan monitoring has made it easier to analyze for these compounds by traditional purge and trap sampling. However, due to the miscibility of the compounds and their propensity to stick to the sparge vessel of the purge and trap, purge and trap sampling needs to be optimized. This application will compare linearity, method detection limits, precision and accuracy and carryover of several purge and trap sampling parameters.

Our Impact

EST Analytical has been helping labs achieve their analytical goals for over 30 years. Our vision is to engineer reliable laboratory instruments that enable partners to make the world a better place.

To help labs excel we offer Application Notes across our entire product line. They are a resource that explains the technology, performance, and abilities of our products as used against certain methodologies and or applications.

Whether your needs center around a USEPA method, an ASTM Standard, or a sample matrix-based outcome EST has you covered. If you don’t see the technical direction you need, simply contact us. We also offer sample analysis in our onsite Applications Lab.
